Product Information "Vola Replacement File for Ergoss Edge Grinder 120 x 25 mm"
The Vola replacement file for the Ergoss is the standard file for the Vola Ergoss edge sharpener: 120 x 25 mm, medium-fine cut with 10 teeth per centimeter. If the file in the Ergoss loses its grip after a season, you can replace it in a minute, and the sharpener will work like new again. With its 25 mm width, the file also fits into other file holders and edge angles with clamping mechanisms.
Vola Replacement File 120 x 25 mm: medium-fine cut for Ergoss and file holders
The Ergoss is Vola’s handy edge sharpener, which allows you to resharpen side edges without needing a workshop. At its heart is this file: With 10 teeth per centimeter, it removes material quickly and restores a dull edge to sharpness in just a few strokes, without causing rough tears. It’s time to replace the file as soon as the strokes become harder or the edge no longer grips cleanly after sharpening—usually after one season of regular use. Outside of the Ergoss, this file is a good all-around file for file holders with a 25-mm shank, for example, for resharpening children’s skis or touring skis.

Application
Loosen the old file in the Ergoss, insert the new one with the teeth facing the direction of travel, and clamp it in place. Then secure the ski in the clamp and, applying light pressure, pull the file from the tip to the tail along the side edge, always in the same direction. After a few passes, check that the edge is grinding evenly; finally, remove the burr with a diamond stone. Clean the file with a file brush after use and store it in a dry place.
Uses
For anyone who owns a Vola Ergoss and wants to replace the file, as well as an affordable all-purpose file for 25-mm-wide file holders. For fine-tuning racing skis, Cutofino files with 14 or 16 teeth per centimeter are the better choice.
Does the file only fit in the Ergoss?
No. It is designed for the Ergoss, but with a width of 25 mm, it fits into most file holders and edge-sharpening angles with a clamping mechanism.
How often do I need to replace the file?
With regular use, about once per season. If the file becomes harder to move or the edge no longer grips cleanly after sharpening, it’s time.
How fine is the cut?
Medium-fine with 10 teeth per centimeter. This is coarser than the Cutofino files and therefore ideal for quick re-sharpening, but not for the final finish.
In which direction should the file be used?
The teeth must cut in the direction of travel, that is, from the tip of the ski to the tail. The direction is marked with an arrow on the file.
Is it suitable for snowboards?
Yes, snowboard edges are sharpened with the same file.
