A belt for the mountains has different requirements than one for a suit. It shouldn’t bulge under ski pants, shouldn’t dig into your stomach when sitting in a chairlift, and shouldn’t set off the Pieps at the airport security checkpoint. That’s exactly what this selection is all about.
Stretch belts without metal buckles
The majority consists of Arcade: elastic belts with flat buckles that move with you instead of digging in. There are also models from Amundsen, Dynafit and Salewa for touring and everyday use.
Why an elastic belt makes sense under ski pants
√ The buckle is barely noticeable and doesn’t press against your stomach when sitting
√ The elastic band moves with you instead of tightening with every squat
√ No metal means no beeping at the airport and no rust stains after washing
√ Fits a wide range of waist sizes, so it fits just as well over ski underwear as without it
Frequently asked questions about belts
What size should I choose?
Measure the width where you want to wear the belt, not your pants size. Stretch belts cover a wide range; if in doubt, go with the smaller size.
Can I wash the belt?
Yes, by hand or in a laundry bag at 30 degrees. Do not tumble dry, the heat weakens the elastic band.
Can a stretch belt also hold heavy pants?
It’s sufficient for jeans and ski pants. For very heavy work pants with full pockets, a classic leather belt is the more durable choice.
