Product Information "Vola Cutofino 1 File 100 x 25 mm Cut 1 Medium Fine"
The Vola Cutofino 1 is a hard-chromed edge file for fine grinding: 100 x 25 mm, Cut 1 with 14 teeth per centimeter, making it medium-fine. The chrome coating keeps the teeth sharp for a long time, prevents rust, and makes it easy to remove steel shavings. Designed for ski service professionals who sharpen edges daily, and for anyone who wants to maintain their skis as well as a professional shop would. Fits the Vola edge angle and all file holders with a 25 mm shank.
Vola Cutofino 1: hard-chromed file with 14 teeth per cm
When it comes to edge sharpening, the tooth count matters: The more teeth per centimeter, the finer the removal and the smoother the edge. With 14 teeth per centimeter, the Cutofino 1 falls into the medium-fine range. It removes enough material to sharpen a dull edge in just a few strokes, but leaves a surface that only needs a diamond stone for deburring. The hard chrome plating sets it apart from regular files: The teeth stay sharp for months, the file won’t rust if it gets damp in your pocket, and chips don’t get stuck as easily. At 100 mm long, it’s compact enough for a backpack and fits into side and base edge angles with a clamp.
Features in Detail

- √ Hard chrome-plated: stays sharp for a long time, rust-free, easy to clean
- √ For sidewall and base edge angles, as well as file holders with a 25 mm shank

Application
Clamp the file into the Vola Racing edge angle holder or another file holder, secure the ski or board in the clamp, and file the edge with light pressure in the direction of travel from the tip to the tail, always in the same direction. Mark the edge with a felt-tip pen: Once the mark is gone, the angle is set. Then remove the burr with a diamond stone and slightly round off the edge at the tip and tail. Clean the file with a file brush after use.
Uses
For touch-ups between ski days, fine-tuning after using a coarse file, and for racers who want to go over the edge one last time before the start. If you want an even finer finish, use the Cutofino 2 with 16 teeth per centimeter.
What does “Cut 1” mean?
At Vola, Cut 1 is the medium-fine file with 14 teeth per centimeter. Cut 2 is even finer, with 16 teeth; coarse workshop files have significantly fewer teeth.
What are the benefits of hard chrome plating?
The teeth stay sharp much longer, the file doesn’t rust, and steel shavings are easier to brush out. This is the standard for daily use in ski service.
Do I need a file holder?
For precise angles, yes. You can’t maintain the edge angle freehand. The file fits standard side angles and edge angles with a 25 mm shank.
Cutofino 1 or 2?
Cutofino 1 is for regular sharpening and when the edge is already a bit dull. Cutofino 2 is for the final finish on racing skis and for very hard edges where the surface finish is critical.
Is it suitable for snowboards?
Yes, snowboard edges are filed using the same file and the same angles.
