Product Information "Vola Cutofino 2 File 100 x 25 mm Cut 2 Super Fine"
The Vola Cutofino 2 is the hard-chromed edge file for the finishing touch: 100 x 25 mm, Cut 2 with 16 teeth per centimeter—so it’s super-fine. It removes very little steel and leaves an edge that’s smooth and clean, without deep gouges. The chrome coating keeps the teeth sharp for a long time, prevents rust, and is easy to clean. The file for racers, ski service professionals, and anyone who rides on hard slopes with sharp edges. Fits into the Vola edge angle and all file holders with a 25 mm shank.
Vola Cutofino 2: super-fine file with 16 teeth per cm
After pre-sharpening with a coarser file, the edge is sharp, but the surface still has scratches that slow you down on hard snow and ice and cause the edge to dull more quickly. The Cutofino 2 smooths out these grooves with 16 teeth per centimeter before the diamond stone removes the burr. The result is an edge that grips cleanly on ice and stays sharp longer. The hard chrome plating sets it apart from regular files: the fine teeth stay sharp for months, the file doesn’t rust, and shavings don’t get stuck as easily. At 100 mm long, it’s compact enough to fit in your jacket pocket on race day.
Features in Detail
- √ Edge file 100 x 25 mm, Cut 2, 16 teeth per cm, super fine
- √ Hard chrome-plated: stays sharp for a long time, rust-free, easy to clean
- √ For sidewall and base edge angles, as well as file holders with a 25 mm shank
- √ For alpine skis, touring skis, cross-country skis, and snowboards
- √ Made in the EU, Vola Racing
Application
Clamp the file into the Vola Racing edge angle or another file holder, secure the ski or board in the clamp, and file the edge with light pressure in the direction of travel from the tip to the tail, always in the same direction. With the fine file, just a few strokes are enough. Then remove the burr with a diamond stone and slightly round off the edge at the tip and tail. Clean the file with a file brush after use.
Uses
For fine-tuning racing skis, for sharpening before the start, and for anyone who wants a smooth, long-lasting edge. For dull or damaged edges, start with the Cutofino 1 or a workshop file, then finish sharpening with the Cutofino 2.
What does “Cut 2” mean?
At Vola, Cut 2 is the super-fine cut with 16 teeth per centimeter. Cut 1 has 14 teeth and is medium-fine; coarse workshop files have significantly fewer.
What are the benefits of hard chrome plating?
The teeth stay sharp much longer, the file doesn’t rust, and steel shavings are easier to brush out. This is especially important with fine files, because otherwise they clog up quickly.
Do I need a file holder?
For precise angles, yes. You can’t maintain the edge angle freehand. The file fits standard side angles and edge angles with a 25 mm shank.
Is the Cutofino 2 enough on its own?
Yes, for regular touch-ups on sharp edges. If the edge is dull or has stone chips, you’ll need a coarser file first; otherwise, it’ll take forever.
Is it suitable for snowboards?
Yes, snowboard edges are filed using the same file and the same angles.
