We are not the ones who apologize when we show up late to a party. For us to release a splitboard, it had to be the right time and with the right people behind it. Taking the powerful and versatile design of our Optimistic and adapting it to the needs of our team and our partners at Eagle Pass Heli was the first step in making this program legitimate. We then worked with our friends at Spark R&D to design and develop a simple (read: reliable), lightweight clip system that maintains the torsional integrity of the solid Optimistic so you can rip it down to your line with uncompromising confidence after that long leg burn. More and more enthusiasts are switching to splitboarding. A white snow-covered mountain and no tourists! What more could you want? A splitboard is a snowboard that you can cut in half for the ascent and fit with ski skins. Once you reach the summit, you simply click your skis together and prepare for the descent.
The first splitboards were developed in Bavaria in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but were only briefly put into mass production because the materials and technology were not yet fully developed. In the mid-1990s, the idea was taken up again in the USA and the first successful series production was achieved. We are happy to offer you everything you need in our online store.
