On a crowded slope, all helmets look the same. A helmet cover changes that: Your child is recognizable from a distance, can find their helmet on their own in the ski locker, and will usually be willing to wear it afterward.
Helmet covers and helmet ears for ski helmets
A cover is pulled over the helmet shell and sits on the outside. The padding, strap, or closure remain unchanged. The helmet ears are the smaller version: they’re attached individually to the helmet if you don’t want to cover the entire shell.
What We Carry
- √ Hoxyheads Helmet Covers with designs such as moose, shark, rabbit, cat, tiger, dinosaur, crocodile, and unicorn
- √ Hoxyheads Ears as clip-on ears, including cat, rabbit, tiger, and unicorn
- √ Reusch Faux Fur Helmet Cover Junior in Dog, Rabbit, and Wolf
- √ Reusch Helmet Ears in Dog, Leopard, Rabbit, and Wolf
Cover or Ears
The cover wraps around the entire shell and completely transforms the helmet; the design is visible even from a distance. The “Ears” sit on top of the helmet as-is. If you have a child who likes their own helmet but still wants something unique, the “Ears” are the better choice.
Not just for kids
Most of them are for kids—that’s obvious. But on the slopes, you’ll see these covers on adult helmets just as often, especially where a group wants to stay together. An eye-catching design is the quickest way to find your way back in a crowd.
Frequently Asked Questions About Helmet Covers
Does a helmet cover fit every helmet?
The covers are stretchy and fit standard children’s and adult helmets. If the product listing includes a size specification from the manufacturer, follow that; if in doubt, measure the helmet’s circumference.
Does a cover change the helmet?
No. It sits on the outside of the shell and doesn’t interfere with the padding or the fastener. The helmet stays exactly as it is.
What is the difference between the Cover and the Ears?
The cover fits over the entire shell, while the Ears are attached individually to the helmet. Both are available at Hoxyheads and Reusch.
Can I wear the cover on my bike helmet in the summer?
The models shown here are designed for ski helmets. A bike helmet has ventilation openings and a different shape, so the cover won’t fit properly.
