The Switchback 32 is the big brother of the Switchback 25 and is designed for tours where you need to carry a rope, crampons, an ice axe, a spare layer, and a full day’s worth of food. The main compartment opens completely from the back—you pack it like a suitcase and can see everything at a glance. While on the move, you can access the shoulder strap pocket and hip pocket as you walk; you can attach your skis parallel using the Fast-Skifix, or secure them laterally using the A-Skifix or diagonally using the D-Skifix. The safety compartment keeps your shovel and probe within easy reach, while your ice axe, poles, rope, and helmet have their own mounts. Despite all this gear, the backpack remains minimalist; the Full Contact Light Back System fits snugly against your back and distributes the load across your hips and shoulders.
