Product Information "Atomic Hawx Magna Nexus AMT Alpine Standard Grip Pads"
Grip Pads are the screw-on sole plates at the toe and heel of your ski boot. They are a wear part: if you walk a lot, they wear down, and once the sole is worn out, the binding will no longer release properly. This model complies with the Alpine standard and fits the Hawx Magna and Nexus model series.
Atomic Alpine-standard grip pads for Hawx Magna and Nexus
The alpine standard ISO 5355 specifies a flat, hard sole with defined dimensions. Classic alpine bindings are designed precisely for this. If you switch from a GripWalk sole to an alpine sole—or vice versa—the binding’s behavior will change. That’s why a new adjustment and release test are required after every sole change.
That’s why it’s worth making the switch
- √ Compatible with Atomic, Hawx Magna, and Nexus
- √ Worn-out soles alter the binding’s release values
- √ The plates are bolted on and can be replaced individually
- √ Significantly cheaper than a new ski boot
- √ After the replacement, we’ll re-adjust the binding
Before you order
Base plates are not universal. These are designed for the Hawx Magna and Nexus. If in doubt, bring the boot in—that’s the safest bet.
Which Atomic models are these Grip Pads designed for?
For the Hawx Magna and Nexus series, which meet the alpine standard. Other Atomic series require a different version, and even within a single series, the size range determines the specific model. Let us know your Mondopoint size, and we’ll clarify this before you place your order.
How can I tell if the base is worn out?
There are wear indicators on the toe and heel. If the edges are worn down or the height is visibly reduced, the plate needs to be replaced. We’ll check this during service.
What’s the difference between Alpine and GripWalk?
The alpine standard ISO 5355 specifies a flat, hard sole. GripWalk soles, as defined by ISO 23223, are rounded and treaded to improve walking performance. GripWalk soles may only be used in bindings approved for this purpose.
Can I install the plates myself?
The screws are accessible, but the torque setting and subsequent binding adjustment should be done at a service center. Without a release test, you’re taking a gamble.
