The B&D Ski Gear crampons for the 22 Designs AXL give you the grip you need when ascending on hard snow and ice—grip that skins alone can no longer provide. They are manufactured by B&D Ski Gear in Idaho, fit directly onto the AXL binding, and are available in widths of 102 and 110 mm. One pair, with a one-year warranty.
B&D Crampons for 22 Designs AXL: Grip on hard snow
Early in the morning, when the slope is still frozen, or while traversing across wind-swept ridges, skins can slip off. Crampons grip the snow with their teeth on either side of the boot, keeping the ski on track. With the AXL, the crampons are guided through a separate mount on the ski, which is installed during binding assembly. Extra Mount Parts are available for a second pair of skis. Choose the width based on the center of the ski: The crampon must be wider than the ski under the binding, but no more than about 10 mm beyond it; otherwise, it will grip too far to the outside.

What width do I need?
The width of the ski’s waist plus 0 to 10 mm. For a ski with a 98 mm waist, choose 102 mm; for 104 to 108 mm, choose the 110 mm model.
Do the crampons also fit other bindings?
No, the mounting is binding-specific. We carry separate crampons for Lynx, AXL, and Outlaw.
How do I attach the crampons?
They are clipped in during the ascent and can be removed without tools. With a little practice, you can attach them while standing without having to step out of the binding.
