The SPX 14 Rockerace comes straight from the world of racing and is designed for anyone skiing on a race ski with an R22 plate. It holds firm when the ski is under load, yet releases when necessary. The Z-range from 5 to 14 covers everything from ambitious youth to Masters skiers on slalom and giant slalom skis.
Look SPX 14 Rockerace GW – Racing binding with semi-floating heel
The key factor is the very long, elastic release travel. The binding absorbs impacts instead of transferring them to the foot, and then re-centers the boot. This significantly reduces the likelihood of false releases in the slalom course. The semi-suspended heel and the short mounting zone allow the ski to flex more freely under the binding, which makes edge engagement more direct and accelerates power transfer.

Only on skis with an R22 base plate
Here’s the most important limitation: The Rockerace cannot be screwed directly onto the ski; it absolutely requires an R22 plate. The plate is included with this offer. If your skis already have a different plate or a rail system, the binding won’t fit. If in doubt, send us a photo of the top of the ski in the binding area, and we’ll let you know if it’ll work.
Which boots fit?
Two sole types are approved: the classic alpine sole according to ISO 5355 A and the profiled GripWalk sole according to ISO 23223 A. Both work, but they must be adjusted differently because the sole heights differ. Touring and hybrid soles are not permitted.
Do I absolutely need a ski with an R22 plate?
Yes. The Rockerace is designed exclusively for the R22 plate and cannot be mounted directly onto the ski. The plate is included here. Racing skis from Rossignol, Dynastar, and many other brands come with this mounting system.
Is Z 14 sufficient for racing?
For the vast majority of skiers, yes. The value is determined by height, weight, boot sole length, age, and skiing style. Only heavy athletes with high performance demands exceed 14 and then need the SPX 15 or a PX World Cup binding.
Why do racing bindings release less frequently by mistake?
Because the elastic travel is longer. When you hit a gate, the boot moves further off-center before the binding actually releases, and is then pulled back. A shorter elastic would already release in the same situation. The set Z-value remains unaffected by this.
Does a GripWalk sole really fit into a racing binding?
Yes, the GW version is approved for both standards. The only important thing is to take the boot type into account during adjustment. Competitive skiers are usually better off with the classic alpine sole because it’s flatter.
Who mounts and adjusts the bindings?
This should be done at a service center. A drilling template, correct sole length adjustment, and a verified release test are mandatory. We’ll take care of this at ski-shop.ch if you bring your skis and boots in.
