Sidas Custom Shinplate Performance Shin Guard Small

Sidas ’s Custom Shinplate Performance is custom-fitted shin protection for ski boots: a thermoformable plate that sits between the shin and the boot tongue, is heated at the boot fitting shop, and is shaped directly on the leg using the Molding Sleeve. It then distributes the pressure from the tongue over a wide area of the shin and creates a seamless fit with the boot, eliminating voids and pressure points. Size Small, from the “ Sidas ” Custom line. Please note: The plate is delivered unformed and must be customized before first use.

Sidas Custom Shinplate Performance: Custom-Fitted Shin Protection for Racers

Anyone who skis in stiff racing boots knows the problem: The tongue presses against a small area, causing the shin to become sore, bruised, or painful with every forward lean. Gel pads help in mild cases, but for severe pressure or a prominent shin, you need a plate that precisely follows the shape of the leg. That’s exactly what the Shinplate Performance does. The thermoformable core is heated in an oven, secured to the shin with the molding sleeve, and cools into the custom shape. The perforated surface lies against the leg, allows air to pass through, and absorbs moisture, while the foam edge made from the signature “ Sidas ” material cushions the edges and provides a clean finish. The longitudinal gel element cushions the area where pressure from the tongue is highest.

Important: The Shinplate is not pre-shaped

You’ll receive the plate in its raw state—flat and uncustomized. It must be thermally molded by a professional boot fitter before its first use: The plate is heated in a ski boot oven, placed against your shin using the molding sleeve, allowed to cool inside the ski boot, and reworked if necessary. Here at Lengnau, we do this right during the boot fitting—just bring your ski boots and ski socks with you. If you have the necessary expertise and a suitable oven with temperature control at home, you can also perform the customization yourself. Without customization, the Shinplate will not provide the desired effect.
