Product Information "Holmenkol Skin Proof Water-Repellent Base 100 ml"
Wet skins that accumulate snow during the ascent and get heavier and heavier—everyone who’s been ski touring in fresh snow or above-freezing temperatures has experienced this. Holmenkol Skin Proof is a waterproofing spray for touring and cross-country ski skins that makes the fibers water-repellent. Moisture and snow can no longer adhere to the skin, no clumps form underneath it, and the skin glides noticeably better along the track.
Holmenkol Skin Proof: Waterproofing against studs and wet skins
Application takes one minute: Shake the can well, spray the dry and clean fur evenly from a distance of about 20 cm, and let it dry for about 10 minutes. After that, the fur is ready for use. It’s best to do this the evening before your trip, either outdoors or in a well-ventilated room, so that the solvent can fully evaporate. With frequent use or in wet conditions, repeat the waterproofing every few trips; the 100-ml can is enough for about 8 to 10 applications on a pair of skins.
For mohair, blended, and synthetic furs
Skin Proof works on all common fur materials, whether pure mohair, a mohair-nylon blend, or synthetic, as well as on the climbing zones of skin-equipped cross-country skis. The climbing performance is preserved because the spray only wets the fiber surface and does not cause the pile to stick together. Do not touch the adhesive layer; spray the skin only from the pile side.

How often do I need to waterproof the skin?
In dry snow, one application is enough for several trips. In fresh snow, above-freezing temperatures, or if snow starts to stick to the skin again, simply reapply the spray.
Does the spray affect the skin adhesive?
No, as long as you only spray the pile side. The backing remains unaffected.
Can I also use Skin Proof on cross-country skis with skins?
Yes, the climbing zone of Skin cross-country skis is treated the same way: spray it on, let it dry, and you’re done.
How long does the skin need to dry?
About 10 minutes. After that, you can fold up the fur or put it on.
What’s the difference between this and skin wax?
Fur wax is rubbed in and is primarily effective against clumps; the spray penetrates the fibers and evenly impregnates the entire fur without causing the nap to stick together.
