Black Crows Captis: a playful all-mountain ski for both the slopes and off-piste
Black Crows He describes the Captis as a ski that’s more sensual than sensible, meaning: It’s not built for race times, but for skiing fun. The narrow waist with an 18-meter radius makes short and medium turns easy; the double rocker eliminates snagging and allows the ski to pivot; and the medium camber underfoot provides grip and feedback on the piste. With a waist width of 90 mm, it still floats well in 20 cm of fresh snow without becoming sluggish on the piste. The flex is forgiving and comfortable; it forgives mistakes and rewards carving. The binding mounting point at -6 cm is more central than on classic freeride skis, a feature rooted in its freestyle heritage: riding switch and playing with the terrain are part of the experience.

What length is right for me?
As an all-mountain ski, you’ll want to ride the Captis at a length of about your height minus 5 to 0 cm. 178 cm for skiers between about 175 and 185 cm, 184 cm for those 183 cm and taller, or for fast skiers.
Does it come with bindings?
No, the ski comes without bindings. We’ll mount any alpine binding with a 90- or 100-mm brake width, such as the Marker, Squire, or Griffon.
What’s the difference between this and the Octo?
The Octo, at 84 mm, is narrower and even more piste-oriented, while the Captis, with 90 mm and Double Rocker, is the more playful all-rounder for both piste and off-piste.
Is this ski suitable for beginners?
Yes, for advanced skiers and ambitious beginners—the flex is forgiving. For your first few days on the slopes, a narrower, shorter ski is easier.
