Product Information "Head Supershape Frontside Ski Poles"
The Supershape Frontside poles are part of the anniversary edition. They feature a slim white aluminum shaft, a simple grip and strap, and baskets designed for on-piste skiing. They’re reasonably priced and visually consistent with the rest of the series.
Head Supershape Frontside: Poles for Carving
On the slopes, the pole does three things: it sets the rhythm, provides support when starting off, and helps at the lift. This doesn’t require a high-tech shaft, but rather the right length and a grip that stays in place even when wearing gloves. That’s exactly what the Frontside poles deliver.
Features in Detail
- √ Aluminum shaft
- √ Plastic grip with adjustable strap
- √ Small piste basket
- √ Three lengths ranging from 115 to 125 cm
Finding the Right Length
Hold the pole upside down in front of you and grip it below the basket. If your forearm is horizontal, the length is correct. A rough rule of thumb: your height in centimeters multiplied by 0.7. If you tend to make shorter turns, go with a length that’s five centimeters shorter.
What length do I need if I’m 175 cm tall?
Mathematically, you’ll end up with about 122 cm, but in practice, it’s usually 120 or 125. If you ski aggressively and prefer a shorter pole, go with 120.
Are the baskets interchangeable?
The piste baskets can be removed and replaced. Larger powder baskets are available as accessories, but they aren’t needed on the slopes.
What should you do if the pole is bent?
Minor bends can be carefully straightened back out, but the area will remain a weak spot. If the shaft is snapped, the pole must be replaced.
