Product Information "Scott Airflow Vest Men’s Back Protector Caviar Black/Dark Gray"
The Scott Airflow Vest is the protective vest for skiers who want to protect their backs without feeling like they’re wearing armor: a flexible back panel with D3O technology, a highly ventilated mesh fabric, and a cut that fits under any ski jacket. Certified to EN 1621-2 Level 1; adjust the hip belt once and forget about it. Available in Caviar Black/Dark Gray, sizes S through XL.
Scott Airflow Vest: Back protector with D3O panel and maximum ventilation
D3O is a material that remains soft and supple during normal movement and hardens within milliseconds upon impact to disperse the energy. Scott has developed the Airflow panel in collaboration with D3O: It conforms to the spine, moves with you when you bend forward, and is ventilated by its perforated structure so that heat doesn’t build up underneath. The plate is removable so the vest can be machine-washed. The vest itself is made of recycled polyester with spandex and recycled mesh; it features a full-length zipper and a hip belt that is adjusted once to fit the wearer’s height and keeps the plate in the correct position. The protective insert is made of 56 percent bio-based polyurethane.

Uses
On the slopes, in the park, freeriding, and ski touring—anywhere a fall onto your back is possible. The vest is worn over a base layer or midlayer and under a jacket. It’s just as suitable for snowboarders as it is for skiers.
Size Selection and Care
The vest should fit snugly without being too tight; the panel must extend from the neck to the tailbone. If you’re between sizes, choose the larger size if you have a larger torso, and the smaller size if you have a shorter back. Remove the plate before washing; then wash on a gentle cycle at 30 degrees, do not bleach, tumble dry on low, and do not dry clean.
What protection level does the Airflow Vest offer?
Level 1 according to EN 1621-2. This is the standard for back protectors in motorcycle and winter sports; Level 1 is the standard for skiing and snowboarding.
Does it get warm under the vest?
Less than with most protectors. The Airflow plate is perforated, and the fabric is made of mesh to allow air to circulate. For high-intensity activities like ski touring, it’s one of the most comfortable vests available.
Can I wash the vest?
Yes, remove the panel, then wash it at 30 degrees on the gentle cycle.
How does the panel move with your body?
The D3O panel is soft and flexible as long as no force is applied. When you bend forward, it conforms to your back; upon impact, it hardens and disperses the energy.
Is the vest also available for women and children?
Yes, Scott also carries the Airflow Vest in women’s and junior models with a tailored fit.
