Product Information "Atomic Redster S9 FIS M 165 + Icon 12 GW Red Tension"
The Redster S9 FIS is the slalom ski for racing. 165 cm is the FIS minimum length for men, so the regulations specify the length. Anyone competing in slalom will find here the ski that’s also used in the World Cup.
Atomic Redster S9 FIS Slalom Skis for Racing
The construction is uncompromising: an Ultra Power Woodcore made of beech and poplar, a continuous sidewall running the full length, and the Ultra TI Powered Titanal laminate from sidewall to sidewall. This makes the ski torsionally stiff and smooth-running. The base edge angle of 0.5 degrees is sharper than on recreational models and typical for racing.

- √ World Cup base, edges at 87 degrees laterally and 0.5 degrees on the base
Bindings and Mounting
The ski is sold as a set with the Atomic Icon 12 GW, with a Z-value of 4 to 12. If you need higher release values for racing, you’ll use the Icon 16 or 24 instead—this is also a matter of regulations. Discuss this with your coach beforehand, and we’ll swap out the binding before assembly.
Who this ski is designed for
For racers with an FIS license, for European Cup and national races. It’s too extreme for recreational skiing: it demands high speed and impeccable technique; otherwise, you’ll be working against it.
Why exactly 165 cm?
FIS regulations stipulate a minimum length of 165 cm for men’s slalom. Skis shorter than this are not permitted in competition. For women, there is a sister model in 157 cm.
Can I also use the skis privately on the slopes?
Technically, yes—but usually not practical. The ski is very stiff and demands speed. On regular slopes, a Redster S9RS or S9i is more fun to ride.
Does it come with a racing plate?
Yes. The ski features the Icon Interface; the Atomic Icon 12 GW, including the plate, is included in the set and will be adjusted to fit your boot.
How often do racing skis need servicing?
During training, significantly more often than a recreational ski. Many racers resharpen their edges after every race day. We take care of that in our service center, with race wax upon request.
