Product Information "Salomon S/Lab Shift² 16 MN Touring Binding 100 mm Pansy"
The Salomon S/Lab Shift² 16 MN is the hybrid binding for freeriders who want pins for the ascent and a true alpine binding for the descent, now with a Z-value up to 16. Pin insert at the front for walking; when flipped down, it becomes an alpine toe piece; at the rear, the new metal heel mechanism with 16 mm of travel. Multinorm, 100 mm brake, color: Pansy/Black/Raspberry.
Salomon Shift² 16: Downhill performance on a touring platform
The 3-Part Power Heel is a completely redesigned metal automatic heel piece with an alpine locking mechanism and 16 mm of elastic travel; the Power Block AFD with an aluminum insert is micrometrically height-adjustable and provides 30 percent more lateral stiffness. XL Side Wings transfer power from the boot to the ski, while the low-profile chassis maintains a stance height of 24 mm. The hybrid toe piece accommodates boots compliant with Alpine ISO 5355, Touring ISO 9523, and GripWalk ISO 23223 standards; TÜV-certified. Flat ascender plus one step, switchable with a pole, mount for Shift crampons. Developed with Cody Townsend and Daron Rahlves.

Assembly
We mount the binding in our workshop and adjust it according to your boot, weight, and skill level. For skis with a waist width over 100 mm, order the 110 or 120 brake.
What’s new compared to the Shift² 13?
The heel mechanism is made of metal and goes up to Z 16; the AFD is stiffer and height-adjustable. However, the Z 16 version weighs about 290 g more per binding.
Which boots are compatible?
All boots with pin inserts per ISO 9523 or GripWalk with inserts. For downhill skiing, the alpine front jaw also accommodates ISO 5355 alpine boots, but inserts are required for ascending.
Will the 100 mm brake fit my ski?
Brake width minus 5 to plus 10 mm of the ski’s waist width, i.e., for skis from 95 to 105 mm. Replacement brakes are available in 90, 100, 110, and 120 mm.
Is the binding compatible with crampons?
Yes, the 100- or 120-mm Shift crampons fit right in.
Can I mount the binding on a ski with existing holes?
We’ll check that in the store—often, yes. Shift² requires its own drilling pattern.
