Product Information "The Mountain Studio D-7 UL Ultralight Pertex Down Hooded Jacket for Men, Black Onyx"
The The Mountain Studio D-7 UL is the ultralight hooded down jacket for everything from an early start on the mountain to a cold morning in the city. 700-fill-power RDS-certified down, Pertex Nano Shadow Ripstop on the outside, and a stuff sack that lets you pack the jacket away as soon as it gets warm. Available in Black Onyx, the deep black of the Swedish brand with Swiss roots.
The Mountain Studio D-7 UL: ultralight down jacket with a hood
UL stands for “Ultralight” in the “ The Mountain Studio ” line, representing the lightest construction in the collection. The Pertex Nano Shadow Ripstop outer fabric is thin, tear-resistant, and down-proof, as well as windproof and treated with a PFAS-free DWR finish to repel light moisture. Inside, 700-fill-power down provides plenty of warmth with minimal bulk. The down is certified to the Responsible Down Standard, and the zippers are from YKK.
Features of the D-7 UL
The storm hood closes snugly, and the soft chin guard prevents the zipper from chafing. Two hand pockets, the signature zippered chest pocket, and elastic cuffs keep the warmth in. The side-slit hem and the silicone cross logo on the sleeve are part of the clean, minimalist design that unites all jackets from The Mountain Studio.

Intended Use
As an insulated jacket for ski touring, hiking, and travel—it’s always in your backpack: slip it on at the summit, in the gondola, while waiting at the lift, or in the evening on the terrace. In dry, cold conditions, it works on its own; if the weather changes, it serves as a midlayer under a hardshell like the Z-2 EPE from The Mountain Studio.
Care
Wash at 30 degrees, inside out, separately, and with zippers closed. Use mild detergent, no fabric softener; do not iron or dry clean. Tumble dry on low heat with a few tennis balls to help the down fluff up again.
How does the D-7 UL fit?
It’s cut to work on its own or under a shell. If you want to wear it over thicker midlayers, go up one size. For sizing, check the size chart at The Mountain Studio.
How warm is the jacket?
700-fill-power RDS down provides plenty of warmth with very little weight. It’s more than enough for breaks on the mountain, fall and winter in the city, or as a midlayer; for long periods of inactivity in severe frost, a thicker down jacket like the D-1 RCH is the better choice.
Is the D-7 UL waterproof?
No. The PFAS-free DWR treatment repels light snow and drizzle, but the jacket is an insulating layer, not a hardshell. In steady rain, you’ll need a shell over it.
How small does it pack down to?
The jacket is ultralight and comes with a stuff sack that fits the entire jacket. This means there’s always room for it in your backpack or carry-on luggage.
What does RDS stand for?
The Responsible Down Standard guarantees that the down comes from animals raised in accordance with strict animal welfare standards, with a certified supply chain from farm to jacket.
