Holmenkol As the name suggests, glide waxes are used to improve gliding properties in both alpine and Nordic skiing. For quick and easy handling, they are available as so-called cold wax fluids, pastes or sprays. The base can be waxed in just a few minutes, which noticeably improves the gliding properties. Cold waxes are usually universal waxes that can be used in all types of snow and temperatures. Hot waxes, such as the alpha, beta and fluor base waxes, offer significantly higher abrasion resistance. These are applied to the base with a wax iron. Even with hot waxes, hobby skiers can choose from universal waxes suitable for all weather and snow conditions. Today there are many manufacturers such as: Holmenkol, Toko, Vola Racing, Wintersteiger, Optiwax, Tooltonic.
