Meindl

The product range of Meindl extends from sandals trekking shoes to special models that are suitable for ice climbing. In addition, low shoes and Haferl shoes are produced that match regional Bavarian costumes. For Felix Baumgartner's jump from 39 kilometers in 2012, the Stratos model was made. Meindl produces together with other German shoe manufacturers of special boots the new combat boots for the German armed forces and special police task forces, such as the Desert Fox, worn by British soldiers during missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Individual shoe models like Island have been produced for over 20 years and are continuously improved through innovations that have earned the company awards for outdoor products.

The shoemaker Petrus Meindl was first mentioned in Kirchanschöring in 1683. Since then, a Meindl has always practiced shoemaking in the town. The family business, founded by Lukas Meindl senior in the seventh generation in 1928, is today managed by Lars and Lukas Meindl, the sons of Alfons Meindl, and is still based in Kirchanschöring. Distribution of shoes to end consumers takes place exclusively through specialist retailers. In the year 2000, the company had 400 employees in Germany and 160 employees in Hungary.
